What is employee engagement ? As per David Zinger, a prolific author and a world expert on engagement “Engagement is all about the work and the benefits for both – The individual and the Organization”.
When we look at overall statistics and surveys, hardly 15 percent of employees are engaged in the workplace which reflects the complexity of the subject but also that majority of managers, team leaders and organizations do not understand fully the domain.
This may sound harsh but is true and one of the key reasons is that most of us don’t go through proper training or certification for the subject, so only natural leaders are able to succeed. When an individual is assigned the responsibility to lead or manage a team in most of the cases there are no structured guidelines or tools assigned to them, which make it challenging and impose some risks for the organization.
In my professional career for the last 30 years across different sectors and industries in Europe, Middle east I have had the opportunity and privilege to lead highly successful global teams from diversified cultures and experiences. Though there is no single secret formula for success, one thing that I can share with utmost clarity is that the most important dimension to succeed for any leader is to have vision and effectively communicate, and to bring and engage the right team together for this common objective.
